Ishmeet Singh (PT)
Standing on that stage at ISSICON 2023 — presenting my randomised controlled trial in the Gold Medal Award for Best Paper Session was a moment of both humility and pride.
Sharing my research findings with an audience of national and international experts in spinal cord injury wasn’t just an opportunity to present data; it was a chance to contribute to the evolving landscape of SCI rehabilitation. The questions, reflections, and engagement from the delegates reminded me how deeply interconnected clinical work and research truly are. Every statistic we discuss represents someone’s lived recovery, someone’s hope.
This trial wasn’t easy. It took persistence, rigorous methodology, and a stubborn belief that well-conducted rehabilitation research deserves space on the national platform. And ISSICON offered me that space- with its continued commitment to advancing spinal cord injury science in India and beyond.

It was also an intense learning experience. Listening to fellow presenters, exchanging thoughts with senior researchers, and engaging in behind-the-scenes discussions reaffirmed just how much innovation is brewing in this field.
Thank you to the scientific committee and mentors who made this possible. And to every rehab professional pushing the boundaries in clinics, labs, and classrooms, your work matters.
